Our client, one of the world’s leading medical device companies, represented in over 100 countries and with a global workforce of more than 5,000 employees has retained us exclusively to hire outstanding Counsel, Legal Affairs for its US Headquarters in Portland, Oregon.

Position Summary: This Commercial Transactions Counsel provides legal support for the company’s commercial transactions and corporate contracting activities. Counsel provides general legal counsel to a number of functions including Sales Operations, Strategic Sourcing, Operations, IS and Government Affairs, Human Resources and Compliance.

Position Requirements: JD and an outstanding academic record. Membership in a US State Bar (Oregon not required.) Five to eight (5-8) years of corporate law firm experience or relevant in-house experience. Combination of law firm and in-house experience most preferred. Healthcare experience a strong plus. Effective written and oral communications abilities and solid legal research and writing skills are necessary. Good judgment and strong interpersonal skills required. Maintain a high degree of professionalism in work ethic, customer service, dress and demeanor. Ability to gain complete and thorough knowledge of products competitive to the company client.

Essential Functions: Reviews, drafts, negotiates and advises business with respect to contracts in a variety of areas, including sales, operations, sourcing and other areas as needed to ensure business interests are protected.

Provides legal advice to corporate functions including Sales Operations, Operations/Manufacturing, Strategic Sourcing, IS and Government Affairs.

Directs outside counsel in preparing and negotiating contracts.

Acts as liaison to outside counsel in arbitration and litigation.

Manages arbitration and litigation as directed.

Interacts with senior members of various corporate functions.

Functions well in a team environment focused on the efficient delivery of high quality legal services.

Able to manage significant corporate legal projects on an as-needed basis.

Provides legal advice and counsel to company personnel in diverse matters by assisting, advising, investigation, researching and resolving legal matters to ensure that company personnel are aware of and in compliance with applicable laws and regulations and that risks are appropriately managed.

Establishes and supports a work environment of continuous improvement that supports the company's SOP’S and the appropriate regulations for the areas they support.

Our Seattle, WA public company client is seeking a 3+ year corporate associate with outstanding academic credentials and law firm training from the corporate group or IT transactions group of a large regional or national firm. This exciting technology employer will match you within its business groups to imbed and be responsible for an array of corporate, transactional finance and contracts work for business managers.
