Our client law firm has just completed a successful corporate associate hire through NWLS and is seeking an additional associate with a minimum of two years legal experience to join its business practice. Busy! The business group focuses on securities, mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, emerging companies and venture capital, private equity, financial transactions and restructuring, and general corporate counseling of companies at all stages of development. Required are two years of relevant legal experience, excellent law school performance, a strong educational background, and excellent references. Significant writing experience demonstrated by law review/journal/clerkship experience and superior interpersonal and communication skills are preferred. Our client, a large non-profit health care employer, is again seeking through NWLS an additional outstanding individual to serve as labor and employment counsel to employers throughout the system. Varied duties include representation and day-to-day advice in all aspects of labor and employment matters and related litigation.
In this role you will:
Provide legal analysis, advice and counsel to each employer on labor and employment matters. Provide strategic advice regarding all aspects of labor law. Actively participate in providing regular and timely legal information as a continuing educational resource, including development of presentation materials, delivery of presentations, and development of written summaries regarding labor and employment regulatory/legal changes affecting employers. Provide research and technical support and drafts legal opinions for the determination and resolution of complex legal issues. Respond to administrative agencies, demand letters, and other claims. Manage and coordinate relationship with outside counsel on employment litigation to meet organizational goals, in a cost-effective manner. Assess best case strategy and need for settlement on litigation, guides outside counsel, and supervises the work of outside counsel. Provide advice directly to client regarding litigation management. Required qualifications for this position include:
JD degree from an accredited law school. Admission to the State Bar of Washington is required for continued employment. License to practice in at least one of the following states: WA, CA, OR, MT, AK. Extensive experience (at least 7 years) in practicing employment litigation and labor law, with knowledge of the NLRA and contract negotiations (you will support contract negotiations). Good knowledge of labor laws, collective bargaining, and employment law. Preferred qualifications for this position include, but not required:
Experience as in-house counsel in similar role.
